I had a mild panic attack the day before I shot Mallory and Darrin’s engagement session. It was a Saturday afternoon and I was taking the day easy, watching the Iowa Hawkeyes play the Wisconsin Badgers on TV. Sadly it was a heartbreaking loss for the Hawks but we won’t get into that here.

Anyways, after the game was over I checked my phone to see if I had any messages. Of course I had about nine texts (and one voice mail) from a few of my Husker fan friends. They were kind enough to let me know that the Huskers had won and my team had lost. Nice of them, eh? I pondered getting new friends and proceeded to check the lone voice mail. It was from Darrin and it went something like this…

Darrin: “Daniel, Mallory and I had an appointment with you today to do our engagement pictures and you never showed. You need to give me a call back so we can reschedule.”

(panic ensues)

I dashed into the house to check my appointment calendar! I have never even been late for a meeting let alone missed an entire session. I always schedule E-sessions on Sundays for a couple of reasons; 1. In case I get a wedding booked for that Saturday we don’t have to reschedule the E-session. 2. College football is on Saturdays!

So after I double checked my calendar and my emails with Mallory I confirmed that the session was scheduled for Sunday and not Saturday. Phew!

I called Darrin after I calmed down a little….

(I’m paraphrasing now)

Me: “Darrin? Hey this is Daniel Dunlap. How’s it going?”

Darrin: “Good. So where were you?”

Me: “I just double checked my calendar and emails and our appointment wasn’t until tomorrow…”

(silence)

Darrin: (speaking to Mallory) “He says the appointment was tomorrow.”

Me: “I could forward you the last email where we spoke of the date if you like.”

Darrin: “Daniel, we are so sorry. We got the date confused!”

Me: “HAHA! It’s no big deal. So I’ll see you two tomorrow at the Treynor golf course?”

Darrin: “Absolutely!”

Normally I send a reminder email to my clients a week before their engagement session to confirm the date and time. This time Mallory beat me to the email so I figured we were all square on the date and time. We ended up having a good laugh about it and we had a great time with their engagement photos. This is one engagement session I will not soon forget!

I had an absolute blast this past weekend with Amber and Jonny! We were originally supposed to meet up at Fontenelle Forest in Bellevue, NE. Unfortunately they don’t allow pets. So we made a quick change and met up at a small park just on the edge of Omaha called Mt Vernon Gardens. We even managed to sneak a few shots of Amber’s sister and her husband in.

The park is in need of a little TLC but I can totally see myself using this park more often! I’m willing to bet this used to be a cool place to hold a wedding.
